  The new personality

  i've been thinking about the changes we make within ourselves after leaving the wts cult.

  i'm not referring to how we spend our time now that we actually have some, but who we have become, or working to be?.

  the gb carries on and on about "stripping off the old personality and putting on the new one.

  In the mid to late 1980's, there was emphasis on The New Personality and the "Fruitage of the spirit." It was very refreshing to find such emphasis when I returned to the borg after 11 years inactivity. There was a series of articles on the fruitage of the spirit in the mags. There was a brother who would pick one of the listed fruits of the spirit and spend the month focusing on it. I thought it made me a better person, not better than others, better than myself. I thought the new personality was about the most important thing because it meant personal growth and more of the identifying mark of true Christians, love.

  By the end of the 80's they stopped emphasizing it. In fact they downplayed character development and promoted more service. I kinda lost interest when it became more a game of numbers.

  they elected a man who is quoted as saying that "terrorism is going to be part of daily life in france for years to come.

  The Mexicans never seem to act like these refugee/immigrants and yet they want to spend billions to build a wall to keep them out. At least these baddies are owning up to their press. Build a wall around France for goodness sake! Hey, why not build one around Berlin while you're at it?

  i just bought a copy of the finished mystery and it can be a bit rare.

  but i bet there are others much more rare.

  Aid To Bible Understanding was reworked into The Insight on the Scriptures. I don't know the differences between the two volumes and the "Aid" book as it was called. The changes in content were negligible as I understand.The Aid book had few illustrations, tiny type and bible type paper so it could be one book.
  

  Three Worlds likely was Barbour's work but Russell certainly claimed to have vouched for it's content. It seems little more than a curiosity now..

  Three Worlds and the Harvest of this World, Russell and Barbour wrote it together in 1877.

  

  

  There's one in the library of Congress and one in a Catholic University library back east. Someone posted a PDF of it! Just Google the Title. Russell paid to publish it so its his baby.

  RUMOUR - Regarding future memorials

  i heard this on the youtube channel - bad jw round table discussions and i normally don't give much thought to rumours, i did find this one interesting.one of the guys on the channel said that there are plans that 'the other sheep' will be told not to attend any future memorials.he was asked how credible was this and he said that it is talk going around by those in the know, just like there had been those that knew about the fairly recent new edition of the bible being in production.even if this is probably just a rumour, the idea has a lot of merit.

  the benefits for the organization outweigh the negatives and would fit in with their current direction.here are some of the benefits, for the org.

  that could come from it- the biggest benefit would come from not having to accommodate so many attendants, which are more than double a normal meeting.

  Its funny but I discounted the notion of an anointed only memorial because I had a mental image of a congregation with one 89 year old participant giving the talk to no one and serving himself the emblems. It then occurred to me that with the overlappers there could be many younger ones. Its annoying how indoctrination sticks with a person. My final word on an anointed only memorial? Silly.

  What was it like being a JW in the 1960's and 1970's

  i'm really curious what it was like to be a witness in the 60's and 70's?.

  was the society as strict as it is today?.

  In the late 60's everyone was on pins and needles that the next revelation, (district convention release) would say when the tribulation would start. All the convoluted interpretations pointed to 75. There was a camaraderie among JW's in the 60's that isn't there now. People knew each other from all over the country because of the common work we all did preaching. People didn't fake it then, they really went out door to door. They really were a "people" for God's name. I was young then and its the perspective of about 8 to 14 I am relating. Bookstudy's were hard to comprehend and therefore seemed magical. An adult probably would have seen it as silly.

  i recently came across a female youtuber called "bridget azaz".

  she has made a number of youtubes recording discussions that she has had with a number of jws.

  The recent converts are ignorant of even the teachings of the 1990's. The watchtower spinning wheel of doctrine makes it hard to keep up, even by the old timer's. When in doubt, deny. They are actually using their minds when they deny the crazy bat shi** doctrines. When they see the quotes they can't help but begin to wonder about these wondrous stories.

  A.N.Z.A.C. Day 25th April 2017.

  this day is when there are memorial services across australia and new zealand for our nations' war dead.. on the 25th april 1915 the australian and new zealand army corp' swept ashore at a beach on the mainland of turkey at a place they call galliboli or gallipoli as it is known to us.

  the soldiers were landed at the wrong beach and were shot to hell they faced cliffs and thick coastal scrub.

  they were supposed to be landed some miles further along the coast which was lightly defended and flat sandy beaches.

  It is a merely a letter of notification that there IS a school to be held. One day for MS and one for elders no doubt. There's nothing confidential in it. Most MS will merely be told. Nothing earth shattering here, please drive thru.
